Omarion, who has previously expressed openness toward non-monogamous relationships, says he does not want that relationship dynamic introduced by someone he may potentially date.
The B2K star appeared on the Friday (July 27) episode of Scott Evans’ House Guest, where he shared his thoughts on monogamy and open relationships. Around the 27-minute mark of the interview, Omarion explained that he believes “a man can be with one woman,” but added that it “has to be his choice.”
“It can’t just be in the confines and concept of a relationship which sometimes are titles,” he continued.
Omarion also explained that “love is a business,” suggesting that someone he dates can potentially create opportunities and build a platform through their connection with him. From 2012 to 2016, Omarion was in a relationship with reality TV personality and actress Apryl Jones, and the two share two children together.
When asked whether he considers himself someone who is interested in open relationships, Omarion said he has “come across girls that are like that,” but admitted the idea has caught him off guard.
“I would say that I am not completely interested,” he said. “I have not been interested in the past of completely connecting with someone like that just because I think the man and the woman hold energy different.”
Omarion explained that he isn’t sure how attracted he is to a woman who is open to multiple energies. “I think that for a woman that is open to a lot of different energies — I don’t know how attracted I am to that element,” he said. “So while I will want a woman to still choose where she would want to be, I could also accept that like maybe she wants to go elsewhere. But there’s levels to it.”
In March, Omarion appeared on an episode of the talk show Sherri, where he shared that openness in relationships was “important” because “women just truly outnumber the men.”
“I love this conversation because I think when men are open and honest about not wanting to have just one thing for the rest of their life, it gives a woman the chance to make a choice and gain a better understanding of a man because I feel like women don’t always fully understand men,” he said.
“Certain women do, but there’s a bigger conversation that needs to happen about understanding men and how, you know, we’re meant to spread our seed,” Omarion concluded.
