Evelyn Lozada says she thinks Tiffney Cambridge is “cool as shit,” but made it clear they were never close friends.
The Basketball Wives star opened up about their dynamic during a recent sit-down on Stepping Into the Shade Room, where she revisited talk about her “alleged” betrayal of Cambridge. The speculation started in 2024, after Lozada’s daughter, Shaniece Hairston, revealed she was pregnant with Cambridge’s ex-fiancé, The Game.
The news sparked backlash, with many accusing Lozada and Hairston of violating girl code, since they were believed to have been close with Cambridge, who shares two kids with The Game.
“People assume you and Tiffney were super close,” TSR host Thembi said around the 49-minute mark. “They think Shaniece was 12 years old, sitting on [The Game’s] lap… and now your daughter is dating him — or has a child by him.”
Lozada admitted the part about her daughter having a baby with The Game was true, but shut down the rest of the claims.
“It is not true. It is literally a lie that took on a world of its own,” she said firmly. “People say anything. It’s not true.”
She pointed to an old photo of Cambridge at her baby shower more than a decade ago but explained that her presence wasn’t personal.
“She was at my baby shower. A lot of people were at my baby shower,” Lozada clarified. “People also don’t understand industry, right? You gotta think about we’re all on VH1.”
Lozada, who joined Basketball Wives in 2010, years before Cambridge appeared on Marrying the Game, said she’s always thought Cambridge was “cool as shit.” She even promoted Cambridge’s children’s book The Little Girl Who Lost Her Smile to show support.
While Lozada and then-husband Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson had appeared on Marrying the Game, she insisted Shaniece never filmed for the show.
“Me and Tiffney don’t have a dog in this fight. I’m in this situation by default,” Lozada explained when asked if Cambridge had reached out. “No, she hasn’t said anything to me, and I haven’t said anything to her. Because, respectfully, like I said, we don’t have a dog in this fight… I’m answering these questions because it keeps coming up. It’s just a rumor and a lie that kept spiraling.”
The Game and Shaniece Hairston welcomed their son in late 2024 and reportedly have a strong coparenting bond.
As for how The Game feels about the Lozada-Hairston-Cambridge chatter? Lozada said he doesn’t entertain it.
“He probably laughs. He’s like, ‘F-ck everybody,’ you know what I’m saying?” she told TSR. “He don’t comment, he don’t say shit about nothing. I’m hoping to get him on the podcast, but we’re waiting for some things… I got some questions for him.”
