Just hours before the release of his debut album I Hope You’re Happy, 26-year-old rapper BigXthaPlug was arrested in Dallas on charges of marijuana possession and unlawful firearm possession, per arrest records obtained by Complex.
According to Fox4, BigXthaPlug — born Xavier Landum — was pulled over on Thursday (Aug. 21) for “not having a license plate.” During the stop, police asked if he had any weapons, and he admitted there was a firearm in the car.
A search of the vehicle turned up two guns along with less than two ounces of marijuana.
He was later charged with possession of marijuana (under 2 ounces) and unlawful possession of a firearm.

BigXthaPlug’s arrest came just a day before the release of his new album I Hope You’re Happy, which boasts features from Jelly Roll, Shaboozey, and Luke Combs. He was set to celebrate the drop at an album release party on Thursday at Cash Cow bar.
This marks the rapper’s second run-in with the law in Texas this year. Back in February, he was pulled over for driving with expired registration. Police claimed they smelled marijuana, and upon searching the vehicle, found less than two ounces. BigX was arrested alongside passenger Cleodist Landum, who was wanted on an active felony warrant.
Despite the setbacks, 2025 has been a breakout year for BigX. He recently earned a spot on Complex’s list of the 15 best country-rap collaborations ever, thanks to his genre-blending sound. I Hope You’re Happy has been highly anticipated, with BigX teasing the project for months and leaning into country-inspired tracks that highlight his versatility as an artist.
