Consequence Allegedly Addresses Kid Cudi’s Car Explosion in New Track

Consequence is stirring conversation after reportedly referencing Kid Cudi’s testimony at Diddy’s trial—and even Cudi’s infamous car explosion—on a new track that briefly surfaced online.

According to TMZ, Cons shared a clip of “Punching at the Air” featuring Conway the Machine on Tuesday (September 2), rapping: “We about to blow like Kid Cudi’s car.”

The bar appears to nod directly to the 2012 incident in which Diddy allegedly firebombed Cudi’s Porsche with a Molotov cocktail amid rumors Cudi was dating Cassie Ventura. The video for the track reportedly also included footage of Cudi leaving Diddy’s trial back in May.

“Punching at the Air” is expected to land on Consequence’s upcoming project I Work For Me, set to drop through his 192 Records imprint. Cudi has not publicly addressed the line.

This isn’t the first time Cons has called out Cudi’s role in the trial. Back in July, he wrote on X: “Kid Cudi testified against Puff for NOTHING.”

In late May, Kid Cudi testified in Diddy’s sex trafficking and racketeering trial, where prosecutors questioned him about the explosion that destroyed his car. Cudi told the court he believed the fire was “intentional” rather than accidental.

Both Cudi and Cassie alleged that Diddy targeted him after finding out they had briefly dated in 2011. According to their accounts, Cassie called Cudi to say Diddy had learned about their relationship and claimed the Bad Boy mogul ordered her then-boyfriend’s Porsche to be blown up.

Cassie first raised the allegation in her 2023 civil lawsuit, claiming Diddy flew into a rage over her brief relationship with Kid Cudi. While whispers of the car bombing circulated back in 2012, it wasn’t until November 2023 that a spokesperson for Cudi confirmed the story to The New York Times, stating plainly: “This is all true.”

Diddy’s verdict came months later, on July 2—the very day Consequence posted about Cudi. The jury found Diddy guilty on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution. Since then, he’s been denied bail twice and is expected to remain behind bars until his October 3 sentencing.

Meanwhile, Cudi is moving forward with music. He recently dropped Free, telling fans on X it would be his “last album on a major label,” as he looks ahead to life as an independent artist.

In August, Kid Cudi opened up about his role in Diddy’s trial, admitting on CBS Mornings that taking the stand was “really hard.”

“I didn’t want to do it,” he said. “I got subpoenaed. … I just wanted to be there for [Cassie] and help her out. I know I did the right thing, so that’s all that matters.”

Meanwhile, Consequence has kept himself in the spotlight with fresh shots at Pusha T, recently claiming he’s the stronger MC and mocking Push’s bars on “Ace Trumpets” from the new Clipse album Let God Sort Em Out.

It’s a messy web of history—once upon a time, Cons, Cudi, and Push all shared the same label home under Ye’s G.O.O.D. Music. Since then, each has had their own falling out with Ye, though Cons is the only one who’s managed to patch things up. Back in May, Ye even voiced disappointment in Cudi for testifying against Diddy, posting on X that he was “praying for Puff.”
