Ice Spice and Taylor Swift may be cool since teaming up on “Karma,” but that doesn’t mean Ice is picking up the phone just to casually ring the pop star.
The Bronx rapper pulled up with Latto on Kai Cenat’s stream Thursday (Sept. 4), fresh off the release of their surprise collab “Gyatt,” which also put to rest the swirling rumors of a feud between the two.
On stream, Ice Spice and Latto kept things light, chatting with Kai Cenat about college, pizza, and whether they’d charge him for a feature if he ever dropped an album.
About an hour in, Cenat shifted the convo to another one of Ice’s high-profile collaborators—Taylor Swift, who just got engaged. He asked if Ice could FaceTime the pop superstar.
Ice paused before shutting it down with, “No, ’cause if she don’t answer, I’mma lose aura.”
Cenat pushed back, saying sometimes it’s good to “test aura.” Ice wasn’t having it: “You peer pressuring me into calling my best contact,” she said as he floated the idea of prank calls.
Latto stepped in on Ice’s side. When Cenat suggested Ice call Swift just to say hi, Latto reminded him, “Don’t bother that lady. That’s a engaged woman.”
Even when Cenat tried to spin it as a congratulatory call, Ice stood her ground, keeping her aura intact and her bond with Swift unshaken.
Ice has previously praised Swift for her advice and humor. After linking up on Midnights, she told Billboard, “When I was in the studio with Taylor, like, I’ll never forget. She told me, ‘No matter what, just keep making music and everything’s going to be fine.’”
