The NFL could be lining up one of its most surprising halftime acts to date.
Per The New York Post, Adele is currently in talks to headline the 2026 Super Bowl halftime show in Santa Clara, California. Insiders confirm discussions are underway, though sources stress that no deal has been locked in just yet.
Adele isn’t the only superstar being floated for the 2026 Super Bowl halftime show. Taylor Swift — a fixture at Kansas City Chiefs games — has been heavily speculated as a frontrunner, while Miley Cyrus, who’s never graced the Super Bowl stage, is also in the mix.
The final call will come down to Jay-Z’s Roc Nation, which has partnered with the NFL on halftime show selections since 2019.
This wouldn’t be the first time Adele’s name has been tied to the big game. Back in 2016, she told fans in Los Angeles she had turned down an invite to perform at the 2017 Super Bowl. “First of all, I’m not doing the Super Bowl… I mean, that show is not about music. I can’t dance or anything like that. They were very kind, they did ask me, but I did say no,” she explained. Pepsi and the NFL later clarified that while conversations happened, no official offer was made.
Still, Adele has shown she loves the spectacle. She attended the 2023 Super Bowl in Glendale, Arizona — not for the game, but to catch Rihanna’s halftime performance. “Last year I went, obviously I didn’t go for the football at all. I went to watch Rihanna,” she told her Las Vegas crowd in 2024. “I’m going just for Rihanna. I don’t give a flying f***.”
Adding to the intrigue, her fiancé Rich Paul is a power player in the NFL world. Adele has also publicly defended Swift against criticism for her frequent NFL appearances, telling her Vegas residency audience: “For all of you complaining about Taylor being at the game, get a fing life, that’s her fking boyfriend.”
NFL commissioner Roger Goodell recently stoked even more speculation when asked about Swift as a possible halftime performer, calling her “a special, special talent” and leaving the door wide open.
