ICE has confirmed that its agents will be stationed at Super Bowl LX, where Bad Bunny is set to headline the halftime show.
On Thursday (Oct. 2), U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement told TMZ that its officers will indeed be present at the event. “There is no safe haven for violent criminal illegal aliens in the United States,” the agency stated.
This confirmation follows comments made a day earlier by Department of Homeland Security advisor Corey Lewandowski. Speaking with right-wing commentator Benny Johnson, Lewandowski claimed that ICE’s deployment was tied to President Donald Trump’s directive and came in response to the NFL’s choice of Bad Bunny as the show’s headliner.
“If you’re in this country illegally, do yourself a favor: go home,” Corey Lewandowski told Benny Johnson.
Bad Bunny (born Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio) has been openly critical of ICE in the past, even deciding against bringing his Debi Tirar Más Fotos World Tour to the U.S. out of fear his concerts could become targets for immigration raids. “Fucking ICE could be outside [my concert],” the 31-year-old said last month, noting it was a serious concern for him and his team.
Instead, he directed U.S. fans to travel to San Juan, Puerto Rico—an incorporated U.S. territory where Puerto Ricans are U.S. citizens—to attend his No Me Quiero Ir de Aqui residency, which wrapped on Sept. 20.
Now, Bad Bunny is set to headline the Super Bowl LX Halftime Show on Feb. 8, 2025, at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California.
Jay-Z praised the moment in a statement, saying, “What Benito has done and continues to do for Puerto Rico is truly inspiring. We are honored to have him on the world’s biggest stage.”
Bad Bunny echoed that pride in his own bilingual message: “What I’m feeling goes beyond myself. It’s for those who came before me and ran countless yards so I could come in and score a touchdown… this is for my people, my culture, and our history. Go and tell your grandma, that we’ll be the Halftime Show of the Super Bowl.”
