Family Matters star Darius McCrary is being held without bail after his recent arrest near the U.S.–Mexico border.
On Sunday (October 5), the 49-year-old actor was taken into custody and booked by U.S. Border Patrol over an outstanding felony warrant. McCrary remains in a San Diego jail and is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday (October 15).
According to his representative, Ann Barlow, the warrant originated in Michigan, where McCrary failed to appear in court for unpaid child support.
This latest arrest adds to the actor’s ongoing legal troubles. In 2023, McCrary was detained for the second time over unpaid child support, facing a felony charge with an outstanding balance of $52,788.04.
Back in 2015, he was arrested for owing $5,500 in back payments, and two years later, he claimed he had only earned $500 and couldn’t keep up with his obligations.
McCrary’s financial and legal issues trace back to his tumultuous divorce from ex-wife Tammy Brawner. Their split was finalized in 2019, when he was ordered to pay $1,366 monthly in child support—$916 as a base payment and an additional $415 for child care.
Brawner received full legal and physical custody of their daughter, Zoey, and alleged in court filings that McCrary “partially dislocated” her arm during an altercation in the bathroom.
