Benzino is overjoyed about becoming a grandfather, even though he hasn’t met his granddaughter in person yet.
During the Oct. 15 episode of The Danza Project, the rapper and TV personality opened up about his daughter Coi Leray’s baby girl with Trippie Redd.
“She’s beautiful. She looks like a doll,” he said. “I just want to hold her, smell her, kiss them cheeks… I light up when I see her on the blogs.”
Though he hasn’t been introduced to the 4-month-old, Benzino made it clear he’s filled with love for Coi and her little family despite their long-standing rocky relationship.
“I’ve come to just stay in my lane,” he said. “It’s not the conventional way, but I know God is going to fix this. I know she’s busy. I’m doing my thing. But I’m gonna see the baby—and when I do, it’s going to be a beautiful thing.”
Benzino admitted he hasn’t met Trippie either, explaining that he never liked meeting Coi’s boyfriends until things got serious. His father, however, has met the rapper and described him as “cool,” with a “big house” who “smokes a lot.”
“He didn’t say too much about him,” Benzino said before voicing a few concerns. “At 26, when you’re a superstar, your focus is all over the place. You’ve got fame, money, travel… without judging him, it’s hard to be the kind of father a woman would want when you’re living that lifestyle.”
Still, he believes Coi knew what she was doing when she decided to have Trippie’s baby. “If I know Cici like I know her, this was thought out,” he said. “Coi is no fool. The father is well off, but he’s young too. Coi is a chess player. She just wanted a beautiful child—and she got that. The father’s successful, so that baby will never lack anything.”
