Ice Spice Responds After “Baddie Baddie” Video Release: ‘Somebody Thought They Ate Buying Views for Me’

Fresh off dropping the official video for her M.I.A.-sampling single “Baddie Baddie,” Ice Spice has playfully addressed online buzz suggesting someone bought views for her.

The Bronx rapper shared a post on X after fans speculated about bot activity surrounding the visual, which she co-directed with Evil Twins. As of Thursday, Oct. 16, the video had racked up nearly seven million views since its release a day earlier and was sitting at No. 14 on YouTube’s trending chart.

“Somebody thought they ate buying views for me,” Ice Spice wrote. “Bby it’s chess, not checkers.”

Unsurprisingly, Ice Spice’s mention of an unnamed “somebody” sparked even more speculation online.

As previously noted, the “Baddie Baddie” video—seen below—closes with a scene where Spice receives a DoorDash delivery. But instead of food, the camera zooms in to show the word “TEA” written at the bottom of the bag.

This isn’t the first time Ice Spice has found herself at the center of fan speculation. Last month, listeners were quick to assume that lyrics from a teased track—possibly titled “Pretty Privilege”—were taking shots at Cardi B. The snippet surfaced shortly after an alleged leaked phone call between Spice’s manager and the Am I the Drama? rapper made the rounds online.

“PR said no clapping back,” Spice raps in the teaser.

However, many fans were quick to dismiss the Cardi theory, instead suggesting that the bars might be directed at Stunna Sandy. On her latest single “Baddie Baddie,” Spice drops another pointed line: “I know that she wanna be me, but she is not doin’ it well,” which listeners believe could again be referencing Sandy, who’s often compared to Ice for her appearance and rap style.
