Ice Spice has addressed her unexpected absence from Hot 97’s Summer Jam, apologizing to fans who were left disappointed after waiting throughout the night to see her hit the stage.
In a statement posted on social media Saturday (July 25), the Bronx rapper explained that contract issues prevented her from performing, despite being promoted for weeks as one of the event’s featured headliners.
“I see yal & im sorry things didn’t work out last night,” she wrote. “I was booked for 1 song but contract wasn’t done despite promoting me as a main performer for weeks… I’ll try my best to make it up to u all thx for understanding.”
Although Ice Spice revealed that she was scheduled to perform one song, she ultimately never made it onto the stage.
The Bronx rapper was not the only advertised performer who missed their set, as Cash Cobain also failed to appear.
According to concertgoers, the event continued about 30 minutes beyond its scheduled closing time, but neither Ice Spice nor Cash Cobain performed during the extended period.
The Summer Jam letdown comes only weeks after Ice Spice surprised fans during A$AP Rocky’s Don’t Be Dumb World Tour stop at Newark’s Prudential Center. She joined Rocky onstage for her breakout track “Deli,” receiving one of the biggest crowd reactions of the night while sharing the spotlight with another surprise guest, 50 Cent, during the star-filled finale of the tour’s North American leg.
