Victoria Beckham says she and David Beckham were so inseparable while dating that they often had to sneak around for hotel meetups.
The fashion icon and former Spice Girl opened up about the early days of their relationship on the Wednesday (Oct. 22) episode of Call Her Daddy, where she’s promoting her new Netflix documentary Victoria Beckham.
Around the 33-minute mark, host Alex Cooper asked how being a Spice Girl affected her romance with David, who was still an up-and-coming soccer star at the time.
“He fitted in so seamlessly, you know, with the other girls,” Beckham recalled. “I remember being on tour, doing a show in Manchester, sneaking him into my room, and literally the following morning, David having to jump out the window and do the walk of shame.”
Beckham went on to reveal that her then-boyfriend had to “skip training” the next day after getting “blisters on his feet” from doing the “walk of shame in his clothes from the night before.”
“But he fitted in with the other girls, and they loved him right away,” she added. “He’s so comfortable in his own skin.”
Elsewhere in the interview, Beckham described David as incredibly “supportive” of her pop career and said he was “never insecure” about her success. The pair tied the knot in 1999 and are parents to four children: Brooklyn, 26; Romeo, 23; Cruz, 20; and Harper, 14.
The Spice Girls disbanded a year after the Beckhams’ wedding but have reunited multiple times over the past 15 years. The group released three studio albums in total, while Victoria’s only solo effort remains her self-titled 2001 album.
