Sean “Diddy” Combs’ prison release date has been officially confirmed—unless he secures a pardon from President Donald Trump.
According to Bureau of Prisons online records, the Bad Boy mogul’s 50-month sentence for violating the Mann Act is scheduled to end on May 8, 2028.
The projected date factors in time already served since his incarceration began in September 2024, along with federal guidelines that allow eligible inmates to serve about 85% of their sentence.
Complex reached out to the Bureau of Prisons for confirmation on the May 2028 release date, but the agency’s Office of Public Affairs was closed due to the ongoing government shutdown.
In recent months, reports have circulated that Diddy has been lobbying for a presidential pardon. Earlier this month, President Trump acknowledged the request while speaking to the press about pardon inquiries.
“I have had a lot of people ask me for pardons,” Trump said. “I call him Puff Daddy—he has asked me for a pardon.”
TMZ later reported that Trump was “considering” commuting Diddy’s sentence but noted that he was “vacillating” on the decision as some White House staff advised against it. “Trump will do what he wants,” the outlet’s source claimed.
Despite the speculation, the White House publicly denied that Trump was weighing any form of clemency for Diddy. TMZ, however, stood by its report.
Back in August, shortly after Diddy’s trial wrapped, Trump appeared to shut down the possibility altogether.
“I got along with him great,” Trump told Newsmax. “Seemed like a nice guy. I didn’t know him well. But when I ran for office, he was very hostile. … It’s hard.”
He added, “We’re human beings. We don’t like to have things cloud our judgment, right? But when you knew someone and you were fine and then you run for office and he made some terrible statements—it makes it more difficult. I’m being honest.”
