Birdman stirred things up with a surprise jab at turk. The night had been packed with classic performances, as both iconic Southern labels went hit-for-hit—Cash Money’s side lighting up the stage with “Back That Azz Up,” while No Limit fired back with “Make Em’ Say Uhh.”
But as the show drew to a close, Cash Money co-founder Birdman grabbed the mic and launched into a passionate speech.
“I was trying to do something different in the game,” he said. “I started this shit young. I was a young man trying to get some money and not be in the streets.”
Birdman went on to name some of Cash Money’s biggest early stars—B.G., Juvenile, and of course, Lil Wayne—before turning his attention to the only missing Hot Boys member, Turk.
What started as a shoutout quickly took a sharp turn. “Shoutout to Turk. You a little bitch,” Birdman said. “You ain’t here, but fuck you. We gon’ fuck with you when we want to fuck with you.”
Mannie Fresh quickly stepped in, trying to calm the situation with a firm, “Don’t go off script.”
Birdman wrapped up his speech with a declaration that kept the crowd buzzing: “Cash Money ain’t never gonna die as long as I’m alive.”
Back in September, Turk filed a lawsuit against the tour promoters behind the Cash Money Millionaires’ 30th Anniversary Tour, claiming he was unfairly cut from the lineup and is still owed over $300,000.
Over the summer, Turk was dropped from the tour after he reportedly refused to take a pay cut. He says he later received a notice stating he was removed over “safety concerns” tied to his ongoing issues with fellow Cash Money artist B.G.—though, according to Turk, B.G. was allowed to remain on the tour because he agreed to the reduced pay.
Following Birdman’s comments on the Verzuz stage, Turk fired back with a response of his own.
“Cash Money got to understand that it’s not about them,” Turk said in response. “It’s about the fans. They need to get out of their feelings. Okay, you don’t like him — none of y’all on that stage liked each other once upon a time.”
Addressing Birdman directly, he added, “Birdman, I understand our language, but I’ve got to say this: you can’t fuck with me when you want to fuck with me. We gonna get that overstood. I’m just gonna leave it at that. Y’all know y’all can’t fuck with me when y’all want to fuck with me.”
Lil Wayne was also noticeably absent from the Verzuz showdown, though the Cash Money crew closed their set with his hit “A Milli.”
Meanwhile, Birdman recently claimed that Wayne, Drake, and Nicki Minaj collectively brought in $2 billion for Cash Money Records.
