Fans of Keanu Reeves’ John Wick series—and the actor in general—will be excited to hear that his upcoming film Shiver has officially secured its shooting location.
The sci-fi project is slated to start filming in the Dominican Republic in February 2026, per Cinemaholic.
Cinemaholic also notes that the Dominican Republic has hosted several major Hollywood productions, including Road House, The Killer, The Lost City, and Arthur the King.
Shiver is being directed by Deadpool filmmaker Tim Miller.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Ian Shorr is writing the screenplay, and the film has already drawn comparisons to Tom Cruise’s alien-invasion thriller Edge of Tomorrow.
What is Shiver about?
THR reports that Reeves will portray a “ne’er-do-well smuggler who finds himself in the middle of a deadly double-cross while on a job in the Caribbean Sea.” He soon ends up “surrounded by bodies, hostile mercenaries and thirsty sharks alike,” before being thrust into a “deathly time loop.”
Reeves was last seen in Good Fortune, where he played an angel, and Ballerina. Neither drew huge numbers. According to Deadline, he has also taken the stage on Broadway.
Shorr previously wrote the Mark Wahlberg movie Infinite, while Miller has helmed one of the films in the Terminator franchise.
Fans on Reddit shared mostly positive reactions to both Reeves and the premise of Shiver.
“Say what you want about Reeves as an actor, but he genuinely has some of the best work ethic in Hollywood,” one user wrote.
“I’m a sucker for time loop movies, so I’m already interested,” another added.
“They had my curiosity… Keanu got my full-blown obsession,” a third fan joked.
Others broke down Miller’s résumé, with one user commenting, “So… a time loop film meets Jaws/Captain Phillips? Seems like it could be a fun playground for a movie.”
