Dawn Richard Accuses Diddy of Using Her Vocals Without Permission on ‘Love Album’ Track

Dawn Richard has maintained that she did not actively contribute to Diddy’s most recent album, The Love Album: Off the Grid, despite appearing on the project.

Three years after the album dropped, Richard appeared on the October 20 episode of Way Up With Angela Yee to promote her new album, Creole Culture. The singer previously belonged to two groups produced by Diddy: Diddy-Dirty Money and Danity Kane, which was formed during the third season of MTV’s Making the Band.

Although Richard’s vocals appear on “Deliver Me,” a track from The Love Album, she claimed during the interview with Yee, around the 29-minute mark, that Diddy used previously recorded material that had gone unused during the making of Diddy-Dirty Money’s Last Train to Paris.

“I think one of the biggest misconceptions too was everybody thought I worked with Puff after I left him because they saw The Love Album. He stole that vocal. That was a Dirty Money song,” she said.

Richard revealed that her last collaboration with Diddy was in 2011, nearly 15 years before she testified against him during his sex trafficking and racketeering trial.

“That was brutal. That was hard, ’cause I had moved on. I was trying to make peace with all my journey and it to relive it was really difficult,” she told Yee.

In June, Richard’s lawsuit against Diddy, which accused him of abuse and mistreatment, was dismissed by federal judge Katherine Polk Failla. The judge ruled that 15 of the claims had exceeded the statute of limitations.

When the lawsuit was filed in 2024, Diddy’s representatives dismissed Richard’s allegations as a “manufactured series of false claims all in the hopes of trying to get a payday.” They also maintained that she had “agreed” to appear on The Love Album.
