Mila Kunis reflects on lying about her age for her That ’70s Show audition, saying “it didn’t really matter.”

Mila Kunis says she told That ’70s Show execs she was four years older than she really was when she auditioned for the sitcom.

In a new WSJ Style “The One” interview shared Sunday (Dec. 1), the Wake Up Dead Man star revisited the moment she lied about her age, saying she told casting directors she was 18 when she was actually 14.

“Once it happened… I mean, I started when I was 9, right?” Kunis said. “So at 9, you audition for anything and everything, but it was at a time where it didn’t really matter what you were, how old you were. You just auditioned to see what would happen.”

“So I wouldn’t say that was my first exaggeration in an audition,” she added.

When asked to share the others, Kunis refused: “Oh, in today’s culture, I’m not telling you them. People would come after me. It would be like a witch hunt.”

Kunis went on to star in That ’70s Show for all eight seasons and later made guest appearances on its Netflix spinoff, That ’90s Show. She eventually married her former castmate Ashton Kutcher.

In a resurfaced 2002 clip from The Rosie O’Donnell Show, Kutcher even joked that a kissing scene between them was “slightly illegal” because of her age.

“What’s funny is she was 14 when we started the show,” Kutcher said. “I was, like, 19. And they’re like, ‘OK, you guys are gonna be making out in this scene.’”

Kunis later revealed that their co-star Danny Masterson had bet Kutcher $10 to French kiss her—though Kutcher corrected it, saying the bet was actually $20. Kunis had never been kissed before filming that scene.

“So Danny bets me like 20 bucks that I wouldn’t do it and of course I’m like, ‘Yeah, sure, what’s the deal?’” Kutcher said.

Last year, Masterson was sentenced to 30 years to life in prison after being found guilty on two counts of rape. Kutcher and Kunis wrote letters to the judge supporting him, something they later apologized for.
