Mickey Lee, who previously competed on CBS’s Big Brother, has passed away at 35 after experiencing multiple heart attacks, her family has confirmed.
The announcement was made on Lee’s Instagram a day after her passing. In the message, her family referred to her death as a “transition,” explaining that she died on Christmas Day after flu-related complications triggered a series of heart attacks.
“Mickey captured the hearts of audiences nationwide through her appearance on Big Brother, where her authenticity, strength, and spirit left a lasting impression on fans and fellow cast members alike,” her family wrote in the post, which was confirmed by NBC News. “She will be remembered for the joy she brought into the lives of so many and for the genuine connections she formed both on and off screen.”
Just a week earlier, Lee’s family revealed that she had been hospitalized in critical condition after suffering multiple cardiac arrests. A GoFundMe was created to help offset expenses connected to what they described as her “medical journey,” including bills not fully covered by insurance.
According to the fundraiser, Lee experienced a series of heart attacks stemming from complications related to the flu. When the page first went live, she was listed as being in the ICU in critical but stable condition, surrounded by loved ones and medical staff. As of this writing, the campaign has raised more than $32,500.
Originally from Jacksonville, Florida, Lee had been living in Atlanta, Georgia. While on Big Brother, she described herself as an event curator and quickly became known for her confidence and strong social game.
She appeared on Big Brother season 27, which aired on CBS earlier this year. The long-running reality competition locks contestants — referred to as houseguests — inside a shared home, where they form alliances, strategize, and face weekly evictions in pursuit of a $750,000 grand prize.
Although Lee was evicted midway through the season, she remained a standout personality among fans and fellow houseguests. In post-season interviews, castmates spoke warmly about her presence, highlighting the friendships she built and the sense of unity she brought to the house.
At this time, the family has not shared any further information regarding memorial arrangements or next steps.
