Odessa A’Zion is finally weighing in on the internet’s favorite debate: is her hair real, or is it a wig?
While speaking with Deadline at the 2026 Critics’ Choice Awards, the 25-year-old actress addressed the online chatter surrounding her signature curls, explaining that the answer actually depends on which red carpet people are referring to.
“I’ve been told about that,” A’Zion said, according to People. “There’s a whole debate, ‘Is it a wig? Is it not?’ I guess we’ll never know. No, I’m kidding.”
She went on to say the confusion mainly comes from her recent Marty Supreme premieres.
“The gag is the L.A. premiere was a wig and [for] the New York premiere, it took me five hours to do my hair, and everyone thinks it’s a wig,” she explained.
A’Zion also laughed off the idea that she regularly wears high-end hairpieces.
“You think I can afford a wig like that and wear it all the time?” she joked. “Those are so expensive. I’ve heard wigs can go up to like $20,000 or $30,000. Are you fucking kidding me? I don’t even have a hair, makeup, and stylist because I’m trying to save my money […] Maybe one day.”
For the Critics’ Choice Awards, A’Zion stepped out in a custom silver look by Ott Dubai, featuring dramatic cape-style sleeves, detailed embellishments, and a high neckline with a cutout.
At the Los Angeles premiere of Marty Supreme on December 8, she wore a bold charcoal-gray Marc Jacobs suit, rocking the blazer without a shirt underneath. Her shoulder-length curls for that appearance were later confirmed to be wig-assisted.
At the New York City premiere on December 16, however, A’Zion opted for a black beaded gown she co-designed with L’Atelier 7474 and Maison Privée, complete with sheer off-the-shoulder sleeves.
Marty Supreme, directed by Josh Safdie and produced by A24, stars Timothée Chalamet as Marty Mauser, a driven character inspired by a real-life Jewish-American table tennis pioneer. A’Zion plays his love interest, Rachel Mizler. The film also features Gwyneth Paltrow, Tyler Okonma, Abel Ferrara, and Fran Drescher.
