T.I. Shaves Off His Dreadlocks and Drops New Pharrell Williams–Produced Track

T.I. is officially back to rocking a fade — and he’s pairing the fresh look with new music alongside Pharrell Williams.

On Jan. 18, T.I. released a new track titled “Let Em Know,” produced by Skateboard P. The drop came just hours after he revealed he’d cut off the dreadlocks he’d been wearing for years, bringing back a look reminiscent of his mid-2000s era.

Check out the new track below.

“Let Em Know” is set to land on T.I.’s upcoming project Kill The King, an album he first announced back in 2021 and previously described as his final release.

In 2023, T.I. broke down the meaning behind the Kill The King title and what it represents for him.

“I feel like the King of the South moniker is very egotistical, self-gratuitous, and it’s a persona that kind of enters the room before I do physically,” he said. “Big Boi cautioned me of [the title] back when I was coming onto the scene. Big Boi said, ‘It sounds cool. I like it. But understand when you are the king, you put a big bullseye on your back.’”

“You can’t look for no favors,” he added. “Life is a game of chess, and the name of the game is called Kill the King. That’s what you’re setting yourself up for.”

Back in December, T.I. also poked fun at himself amid viral rumors after a man resembling him went viral online for appearing to have nothing but scalp beneath his dreadlocks. During an appearance on Yung Joc & The Streetz Morning Takeover radio show, T.I. cleared the air, explaining that he wasn’t the person seen in the TikTok standing on stage with a balding crown.

“The Devil is a lie,” he said, adding that he “went to the mirror” after seeing the clip. “It’s comedy. I laughed. It wouldn’t be funny if it were true. … I ain’t even respond to it, I just took my hat off and walked around.”

Elsewhere in the interview circuit, T.I. also shut down claims that Lil Wayne influenced his music while speaking with D.J. Whoo Kid. “We do push each other,” he said. “When I hear him do something dope, I say, okay, let me go do something doper. I think that’s what it takes to revolve and set the game on another level.”
