It’s no secret that Kim Kardashian and Taylor Swift haven’t exactly been on friendly terms over the years. Swift has had an on-and-off feud with Kim and Kim’s ex-husband, with tensions flaring up publicly on multiple occasions.
Still, during the Wednesday, January 21 episode of Khloé Kardashian’s podcast Khloé in Wonderland, Kim shared a surprising take when the topic of Swift came up — one that might catch some fans off guard.
“Do you think people would be surprised that you listen to Taylor Swift?” Khloé asked.
Kim responded by pointing out that she’s never said she dislikes Swift’s music, even if their personal relationship hasn’t always been smooth.
“People would be surprised,” Khloé said, still pushing the point.
“I have some of her older songs on my playlist,” Kim admitted. “I’ve always thought she was, like, a super talented great artist.”
Kim added that she’s a big fan of country music, hinting that she may not be as tapped into Taylor Swift’s newer releases.
The tension between Kim and Swift famously boiled over when Kim’s then-husband, West, dropped his controversial song “Famous.” The track features an explicit line where West claims responsibility for Swift’s fame, referencing the widely criticized 2009 VMAs moment when he interrupted her acceptance speech.
While Kim and West maintained that Swift had approved the lyric before the song’s 2016 release, Swift later said she never heard the full verse. Kim eventually shared a clip of a phone call between West and Swift that appeared to paint Swift as dishonest, though it was later revealed that the recording had been edited to support Kim and West’s version of events.
Given that history, it’s understandable that even though Kim enjoys some of Swift’s music, she wouldn’t exactly label herself a Swiftie.
