Kim Kardashian and Kris Jenner Testify Under Oath They Didn’t Plan the Release of the Infamous Sex Tape

Kim Kardashian and Kris Jenner have denied Ray J’s claims that they worked together to publicly release the infamous 2007 sex tape, making their statements under oath.

According to TMZ, court filings show that Kim and her mother submitted declarations stating they had no plan to release the tape, which was recorded by the former couple during a trip in October 2003 to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. “[Ray J’s] claim that I had a plan with my mother and others to release a sex tape, defraud the public, and file a ‘fake’ lawsuit against the porn company that released it to ‘create buzz’ is a lie,” Kim said.

In her own statement, Kris also rejected Ray J’s accusations that she oversaw the “commercial exploitation” of her daughter’s tape, calling the claims “absolutely false.” She said she neither encouraged Kim to record the tape nor had any role in deciding what would be released, contrary to what Ray “outrageously claimed in his cross-complaint.” She added, “As a mother, the notion that I orchestrated or produced sex tapes involving my daughter, or was in any way involved in the creation or distribution of any sex tapes, is not only entirely untrue but deeply offensive and harmful and has haunted me for decades.”

The declarations come as part of an ongoing legal battle after Ray J accused Kardashian and Jenner of coordinating the tape’s release. He later filed a countersuit against them, alleging they violated a settlement agreement that prevented them from speaking publicly about the tape.

The tape—titled Kim Kardashian, Superstar—was released by pornographic production company Vivid Entertainment in 2007. The company said it purchased the footage from a “third party” for $1 million. Prior to its release, Kim sued the company for invasion of privacy and sought control of the tape and its profits. The dispute was eventually settled for $5 million, and she dropped the lawsuit.

In a filing submitted last month, Kris accused Ray J of repeatedly harassing her daughter over the years. “Over the past two decades, I have had to watch [Ray J] publicly terrorize my daughter by continually talking, and lying, about her in the press,” she wrote, while also denying Ray’s claims that she and Kim were under federal investigation.
