NBA YoungBoy’s “Make America Slime Again” tour documentary, American YoungBoy, hit 583 theaters when it premiered on April 22.
The rapper has already built a strong reputation in music, but now he’s making waves on the big screen too. According to Box Office Mojo, the 26-year-old’s American YoungBoy landed at No. 10 on this week’s box office chart, pulling in over $1.1 million domestically during its opening run.
The film focuses on his “Make America Slime Again (MASA)” tour, which brought in close to $70 million in 2025, making it one of the most successful solo rap tours to date.
Alongside NBA YoungBoy, the project was produced by Patrick Hughes, Kyle Claiborne, and Antoine Banks. It was directed by Nico Ballesteros, who also helmed the controversial 2025 Kanye West documentary, In Whose Name?.
The film blends electrifying concert footage with a more personal glimpse into the rapper’s family life, his home, and beyond. While it’s been a major win so far, not every screening has gone smoothly. Over the weekend, one theater even attempted to shut things down after staff felt the crowd was getting a little too wild.
A video from that night later made its way online, showing a theater employee trying to address the frustrated audience. The crowd didn’t hold back, making it clear they weren’t pleased and even hurling insults like calling the employee a “b***h.”
Elsewhere across the country, clips from different screenings capture fans fully in the moment—dancing, rapping along to NBA YoungBoy’s lyrics, and just enjoying the vibe. Some situations escalated, though, with a few attendees getting kicked out and police being called to a theater. In North Hills, North Carolina, seven teenagers were arrested after authorities responded to reports of a fight at both the cinema and a nearby Chick-fil-A.
