Fast & Furious TV Series Reportedly in the Works at Peacock With Vin Diesel Attached as Executive Producer

NBCUniversal has officially confirmed that a live-action TV series based on the Fast & Furious franchise is currently in development, with Vin Diesel attached as an executive producer.

According to Deadline, sources revealed that the new Fast & Furious series is being developed for Peacock, alongside several other franchise-related projects at Universal Television. During NBCUniversal’s presentation on Monday, May 11, Diesel shared, “Peacock is launching four shows in the Fast and the Furious universe.”

The project furthest along in development reportedly has a pilot script being written by Mike Daniels, who recently landed another NBCUniversal greenlight for The Rockford Files, alongside Wolfe Coleman.

Specific plot details are still being kept secret, though Diesel hinted that some fan-favorite characters from the franchise could make appearances.

“As you all know, we are very precious about these movies, but over the last decade, we’ve realized that the fans have wanted more; they wanted us to expand the legacy characters, their stories,” he explained. “And for the last decade, the desire has been for us to enter the TV space.”

Diesel also admitted he was initially reluctant about bringing the franchise to television, but changed his perspective after Donna Langley began overseeing NBCUniversal’s TV projects.

“That’s when I knew that the integrity of the characters, the international appeal, what makes us all feel like family will be protected in the TV space,” he added.

This isn’t Diesel’s first time producing within the franchise’s television world. He previously executive produced all six seasons of Fast & Furious Spy Racers, which wrapped up in 2021.

The latest film in the franchise, Fast X, ended on a major cliffhanger that still hasn’t been resolved. The final installment is currently expected to be titled Fast Forever, though a completed script reportedly hasn’t been finalized yet. The movie is tentatively scheduled to arrive in theaters in April 2027.

Last year, Diesel also hinted that Paul Walker’s beloved character Brian O’Conner could potentially return in the upcoming film, despite Walker’s tragic passing in a 2013 car accident.
