Grammy-Nominated Producer Tay Keith Remembered by Artists Following Reported Death at 29

The music world is mourning the loss of Tay Keith, who reportedly passed away this week at the age of 29. In the wake of the news, several artists who worked alongside the Grammy-nominated producer have shared heartfelt tributes in his honor.

On Thursday, June 18, it was announced that Tay Keith, born Brytavious Lakeith Chambers, was found dead in his apartment after officers conducted a welfare check. According to Metro Nashville Police, there were no signs of foul play.

Throughout his career, the acclaimed producer collaborated with some of the biggest names in music, including Drake, Eminem, and fellow Memphis artist BlocBoy JB. Keith’s breakout success came through his work on BlocBoy JB’s Drake-assisted hit “Look Alive.”

Following the news, BlocBoy JB shared a series of emotional posts on Instagram Stories. Among them were a throwback photo of the pair together and a video displaying their call history, highlighting how frequently they stayed in touch. He also revealed that he is postponing the release of his upcoming mixtape.

“Never thought you’ll leave this bitch before me thru my downs you kept me up you was and will always be the brother I never had,” he wrote.

Memphis rap veteran Juicy J also paid tribute on X, writing: “Can’t believe I’m saying this RIP TAY KEITH Memphis Tenn Legend. Prayers up for the family friends & fans we lost a great one.”

Tay Keith’s influence on hip-hop was undeniable, especially considering how much he accomplished after beginning his production journey at just 17 years old. In a relatively short time, he helped shape some of the genre’s biggest records, earning production credits on tracks such as Drake’s “Nonstop,” Beyoncé’s “Before I Let Go,” Eminem’s “Not Alike,” Lil Baby’s “Never Recover,” and Sexyy Red’s “Pound Town,” among many others.

His work also earned industry recognition, including two Grammy nominations for Best Rap Song. The first came in 2019 for Travis Scott’s “Sicko Mode,” followed by another nomination in 2024 for Drake and 21 Savage’s “Rich Flex.”

As news of his passing continues to spread, artists across the music industry have been sharing tributes and memories in honor of the late producer. Among those paying their respects are Tyler, the Creator, Machine Gun Kelly, and several other collaborators and peers whose careers intersected with his influential body of work.
