J. Cole has long been considered a member of rap’s Big Three and remains one of the genre’s most commercially successful artists. His 2026 album, The Fall-Off, got off to a strong start, moving more than 200,000 units in its first week and debuting at No. 1 on the Billboard 200.
Throughout his career, every J. Cole album had managed to remain on the Billboard 200 for at least a full year before eventually dropping off the chart. However, that streak has now come to an end with The Fall-Off.
According to Billboard, the album has officially exited the Billboard 200 after spending 18 consecutive weeks on the chart.
While The Fall-Off could still find its way back onto the rankings in the future, its current chart run suggests the project has not maintained the same long-term momentum as some of Cole’s previous releases.
Interestingly, J. Cole still has one project holding strong on the Billboard 200: 2014 Forest Hills Drive. The acclaimed album has now spent an impressive 602 weeks on the chart and currently sits at No. 151, a notable achievement considering its age.
While chart performance isn’t the sole measure of an artist’s impact, The Fall-Off‘s relatively short run is likely to fuel conversations among fans, especially as Drake continues to dominate the charts. Some listeners have argued that The Fall-Off should have posted stronger long-term numbers, particularly given its significance as what many view as Cole’s retirement album.
At the same time, Drake’s ICEMAN held the No. 1 spot for four consecutive weeks before slipping to No. 2 behind Olivia Rodrigo’s latest release. Whether J. Cole’s fanbase can help The Fall-Off make its way back onto the Billboard 200 remains to be seen.
