ASAP Rocky has seemingly revealed that his longtime partner, Rihanna, is back in the studio and working on new music, potentially for her highly anticipated ninth album.
During the latest episode of BET’s The Jason Lee Show, the “Don’t Be Dumb” rapper confirmed around the 1-hour, 32-minute mark that the nine-time Grammy winner is currently recording.
“Yeah, I said it. Sorry, babe. Bro, she work. She cooking, bro. No funny shit,” Rocky said. The couple, who share three children, then joked about him revealing the news, with the rapper adding, “Damn, I’mma get in trouble for this.”
When Lee suggested that the pair create a joint double album, Rocky admitted he would “hate” to see the idea happen.
“That’s trash. Nobody want to hear us together, bro,” Rocky said. “I make subversive weird ass indie rap. Like I got a cult following, bro … The music that I make is for a niche demographic of people who actually get this.”
However, after Lee explained why a collaborative project could work, Rocky seemed to reconsider the idea.
“Look, I promise you we going to do an album just for you. And it’s just it’s never going to come out. You just can’t leak it,” the Harlem rapper joked.
A decade after releasing her eighth studio album, Anti, Rihanna has continued to tease fans about working on her long-awaited follow-up project.
On Wednesday (Aug. 50), she shared a clip of herself twerking on Rocky during Barbados’ Crop Over festival, with a reference hinting that she was back in the studio. Another video posted in February appeared to show the singer recording music late into the night.
In an Instagram post shared in January, Rihanna marked the 10th anniversary of Anti, revealing that she still listens to the album “top to bottom,” as she previously mentioned in a 2025 Harper’s Bazaar interview.
“I used to always have shame. I actually don’t like listening to my music, but Anti—I can listen to the album. It’s like it’s not me singing it, if I’m just listening to it,” she told the publication. “That’s the one album that I can have an out-of-body experience where it’s not like … You know when you hear your voice in a voicemail, and it’s like, ‘Ugh.’”
