Katy Perry once again paid tribute to Chief Keef during a recent performance at Philadelphia’s Wells Fargo Center.
Videos shared across social media showed the pop star working the Chicago rapper into her stage production using what appeared to be an oversized phone prop displaying a profile resembling a dating app. As images of Chief Keef flashed across the screen, Perry danced around the display and even leaned against it before the visual transitioned back to the phone’s home screen.
The connection between Katy Perry and Chief Keef dates back to 2013, when the two briefly exchanged words on social media after Perry criticized his song “Hate Bein’ Sober.”
“Just heard a new song on the radio called ‘I hate being sober,’” she wrote on Twitter, now known as X. “I now have serious doubt for the world.” In response, Chief Keef fired off a series of explicit posts and even teased a diss track named after the pop star. Perry later apologized directly to “Mr. Keef,” writing: “I’m sorry if I offended you. I heard a lot of people guesting on the song & didn’t even know it was you in particular.”
Chief Keef quickly accepted the apology, replying, “Oh Im Sorry Too Then.”
More than a decade later, Perry playfully revisited the moment by posting a TikTok video joking that she was “attempting to summon Mr. Keef.” Not long after, the pair finally met in what appeared to be a rehearsal studio, ending the years-long saga. They later teamed up for an official remix of Perry’s 2013 song, “Legendary Lovers.”
