Young Thug was brought into the conversation earlier this week amid reports that Drake and Kanye West were covering a significant portion of Lil Durk’s legal expenses. There were also claims that Thug was contributing financially, though Loren LoRosa later pushed back on that report during an appearance on The Breakfast Club.
Young Thug’s attorney, Brian Steel, is also part of Durk’s defense team and has played a prominent role throughout the trial. That led some to question whether Steel’s involvement came at Thug’s request. Durk initially had Drew Findling representing him before Steel was added to the defense team.
Thug addressed the speculation on X this morning, first criticizing bloggers for focusing on how much money different people may have contributed. According to Thug, the more important issue is the fact that Durk’s friends are testifying against him.
He also made it clear that Steel would not have joined Durk’s legal team without his involvement.
“N***a best friends on the stand saying he did serious shit “lying” and yall asking blogs who paid for lawyers lol if I didn’t say he was my brother my lawyer wouldn’t have even took the case,” Thug explained. “I sent Brian to get with him and take the case. Stop making me the bad guy and pray harder for him cause I am.”
Thug’s comments come during a difficult stretch for Lil Durk, as OTF Jam, OTF Vonni, and Flacka have all taken the stand against him. Closing arguments are also expected later today, meaning the jury could reach a verdict sooner rather than later.
