British-Nigerian influencer Igho “Tiny” Ubiribo died in March after a cosmetic penile filler procedure at an unnamed Thai clinic led to a fatal pulmonary embolism, a London coroner has confirmed.
Coroner Jean Harkin delivered the finding at Inner West London Coroners’ Court on Sept. 5.
Ubiribo underwent a procedure involving 40 milliliters of hyaluronic acid and lidocaine injected into his penis while he and his wife, Danielle Simba Allen, were staying at a Marriott hotel in Bangkok. Following the injections, the couple went for a massage, where the 43-year-old influencer began experiencing chest pain and fainted twice.
Ubiribo was taken by ambulance to Sukhumvit Hospital, arriving alert enough to answer questions. Allen informed doctors about the filler procedure, but Ubiribo lost consciousness before he could complete a recommended CT scan. Doctors diagnosed him with a pulmonary embolism, a sudden blockage of blood vessels in the lungs, and transferred him to intensive care.
After nearly two hours of CPR, Ubiribo died in the early hours of Mar. 6.
His primary care doctor told the inquest that Ubiribo had previously undergone joint surgery, was pre-diabetic, and had gout, but had no other documented medical conditions.
Ubiribo, who also used the names Denisi and Ego online, had around 185,000 Instagram followers and built his audience around a globe-trotting lifestyle that took him to Paris, Cape Town, and Bali. He married Allen, an Anglo-Zimbabwean socialite and fashion designer, at a ceremony in Zimbabwe in 2022.
British urology experts have warned that penile filler procedures can lead to potentially devastating complications, including loss of sensation, erectile dysfunction, infection, and deformity caused by scarring.
