Sexyy Red Could Face $5 Million Default Judgment After Allegedly Sending Fans to Child’s Grandmother’s Home
Sexyy Red could be on the hook for $5 million after allegedly failing to respond to a lawsuit brought by her child’s grandmother, who claims the rapper encouraged her fans to target her home.
As TMZ reported on Thursday (Sept. 10), a motion filed by the plaintiff in July alleges that the Pound Town artist, whose real name is Janae Wherry, failed to respond to the lawsuit by the June deadline. The filing argues that she should therefore face a $5 million default judgment.
Nicole Barnes, 51, first filed the lawsuit in March 2025, claiming that in 2024, Red posted her home address online and urged her followers to “kick the door in” at her Missouri residence.
Barnes is the paternal grandmother of one of Red’s children. The rapper has a son and daughter. According to the lawsuit, Barnes has since left the home out of concern for her safety.
“Sexxy Red and her baby daddy are getting into beefs, for whatever reason, that have nothing to do with my client,” Barnes attorney, Steven Weaver, said when the lawsuit was first filed. “We did try to informally resolve it, and her attorneys thought it was a joke. And now they’re finding out it’s not.”The judge has yet to make a ruling on Barnes’ request for a default judgment.
