Stanford hoops star Cameron Brink just revealed her epic moment when someone claiming to be from Kendrick Lamar’s crew gave her major props.
Speaking on the Straight to Cam podcast, Brink dropped the story about when Complex asked her to pick between K-Dot and Drake.
“When the [WNBA] draft was going on, we were doing questions on the orange carpet. The question was: Kendrick or Drake?” the Los Angeles Sparks forward said. “And everyone chose Drake, and I was the only one that chose Kendrick.”
Turns out, Kendrick caught wind of it – leading to a moment Brink won’t ever forget.
“Fast forward to USC [vs.] Notre Dame women’s basketball game a while ago, a guy came up to me with his super cute daughter. He was like ‘I work with Kendrick, and he noticed that you were the only person who said him,'” Brink said. “‘And he fucks with you, he says, ‘You’re LA.’ I was like ‘Really!?’ I was like ‘I love you, Kendrick.'”
She even shot her shot with a video message for the rapper. “So then he was like, ‘I’ll take a video and I’ll send it to him.’ And in the video … I was like, ‘I love you, Kendrick!'” Brink said. “Maybe he was lying, I don’t know. But I think he knows who I am, and that was a highlight of my life.”
Just recently on Richer Lives by SoFi, Brink got real about her WNBA paycheck, showing appreciation despite the ongoing debate about player salaries.
“My mom was the first to go to college in her family,” said Brink. “My grandma worked three jobs as a single mom. I do not take that money for granted. That is good money. That is a salary that we work very hard for.”
Though she did add that bigger WNBA checks “would be nice.”
