On Friday, March 14, Ye (formerly Kanye West) shared his takes on Playboi Carti’s new album MUSIC and took aim at Kendrick Lamar’s three features on the project.
After posting screenshots of himself listening to the album and praising tracks like “CRANK” and “I SEEEEEE YOU BABY BOI,” he bluntly tweeted his feelings about Kendrick. “I don’t like Kendrick Lamar’s music,” he posted in all-caps. “He raps very good but I didn’t need to hear him on Carti album.”

Kendrick appears on three of Music‘s 30 tracks: “MOJO JOJO,” “BACKD00R,” and “GOOD CREDIT.” Ye previously worked with Kendrick, getting a writing credit on his 2015 single “All Day” and rapping with him on The Life of Pablo cut “No More Parties in LA.” Kendrick also opened for Ye during his Yeezus tour.
Just last month, Ye praised Kendrick’s Super Bowl Halftime Show, calling it his “favorite halftime show since like the Michael Jackson era.” He admired the performance of “Be Humble” saying, “The way people’s heads were moving, I was just like shook. This is like super fresh. The man’s voice control, all that.”
Ye also weighed in on Kendrick’s Drake beef during Justin Laboy’s The Download podcast. “If you rap against Kendrick, you will lose,” he told Laboy, according to XXL. “If you rap against Kendrick Lamar, it’s a really difficult task. But perhaps it’s something… Unless you’re a psycho genius like me.”
