Miley Cyrus has shared details about a knee infection she once suffered that nearly led to permanent damage.
On Thursday (May 22), The “Something Beautiful” artist appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live, where she discussed the knee infection that landed her in the hospital around the holidays last year. During that period, the three-time Grammy winner was shooting the music video for “Walk of Fame” on the actual Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Around the 10-minute mark in the video below, Kimmel mentioned that the visual “caught” his attention, prompting Cyrus to quip, “I caught something.”
“I filmed this video in October, and by November on Thanksgiving I was put in ICU for a moment,” she revealed. “…My leg began to disintegrate within some way around the kneecap area.”
The doctors asked Cyrus if she had “any idea” about how the “brutal” infection was caused, which led her to think back on dancing on the ground for the “Walk of Fame” shoot.
“To have a surgeon look at you and say, ‘Yuck.’ Like, they open up like cadaavvers. They see inside the guts of humans and they’re looking at me, telling me I’m disgusting,” she joked.
Cyrus confessed that she shot the Something Beautiful visual album on a “big dream and a small budget,” with most of the money going toward clothing.
“Have you been to the Walk of Fame in the middle of the night?” Cyrus asked Kimmel. “I thought it was my last day.”
After the release of Something Beautiful on May 30, the film companion premieres at Tribeca Film Festival on June 6 before heading to select theaters in the U.S. and Canada for a one-night-only screening on June 12.
Earlier this month, Miley Cyrus addressed reports that various family tensions had led to her mother, Tish Cyrus-Purcell, unfollowing her on Instagram.
The “Wrecking Ball” artist shared an Instagram story meant to silence any rumors by confirming that the unfollow did happen, but explaining that it was accidental.
“I rarely comment on rumors, but my mama and I are too tight for anything to ever come between us,” the “Flowers” singer posted. “Like a lot of moms, she doesn’t know how to work her phone and somehow unfollowed me — simple, coincidental, and uninteresting.”
