As previously covered, one of the supposed texts in question showed Bailey writing in March 2024 to DDG, with whom she has a child, “I just found out you slept with Lala in Mexico.” While not confirmed, many believed the “Lala” mentioned in the text was Lala Baptiste.
The texts became widely circulated after being made public through DDG’s request for a domestic violence restraining order. In the request, additional supposed texts included threats of self-harm. According to TMZ, DDG’s legal efforts aimed at stopping Bailey and their son from leaving the country were unsuccessful as of Thursday, June 5.
DDG’s allegations against Halle came after accusations from his former romantic partner. In May, Bailey accused DDG of abuse.
How did Lala Baptiste respond to speculation she hooked up with DDG?
In the clip below, Lala, who previously gained attention in connection with Rubi Rose and Lil Tjay drama, clarified that she and DDG, born Darryl Dwayne Granberry Jr., have a strictly “platonic” relationship, and always have.
“The context behind these accusations in general is stemming from a group trip that our whole friend group went on,” Lala said, adding that everyone who went on this outing together can “confirm” that nothing inappropriate happened.
“Everyone on this trip can confirm there was nothing weird going on,” she said. “I wasn’t even staying near them. It was for someone’s birthday. Let’s start there. There was never anything sneaky going on. Like, me and Darryl’s relationship has always been strictly started off as business, obviously. If you know you know.”
Lala continued, “He put me on to YouTube. Started off there, grew into a friendship, has always remained platonic. So it’s very unfortunate. Like, I know people already have this narrative because it’s just hard to believe that a guy and a girl can be friends. Like, it’s hard to believe that me and him or any other guy and girl can just strictly be platonic friends, okay? But nothing has ever gone on past that, ever.”
