TikToker Khaby Lame willingly departed the United States after being held by ICE, the federal law enforcement agency confirmed to Complex.
Lame, whose real name is Seringe Khabane Lame, was detained in Las Vegas earlier this week. He was reportedly in the US on a visa. The social media personality was born in Senegal and currently resides in Italy, where he holds citizenship.
In a statement provided to Complex, an ICE spokesperson confirmed Lame’s detention, stating:
“U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement detained Seringe Khabane Lame, 25, a citizen of Italy, June 6, at the Harry Reid International Airport, Las Vegas, Nevada for immigration violations. Lame entered the United States April 30 and overstayed the terms of his visa. Lame was granted voluntary departure June 6 and has since departed the U.S.”
Lame hasn’t commented on the arrest at the time of publication. With more than 162 million TikTok followers and over 80 million Instagram followers, his content is recognized for having no spoken words. His latest video, uploaded a day after leaving the US, features a Minecraft sponsorship.
