Fat Joe’s former hype man, Terrance “T.A.” Dixon, has leveled explosive allegations against the Bronx rapper in a $20 million lawsuit — including claims that Fat Joe once attempted to orchestrate the murder of 50 Cent during the peak of their early 2000s feud.
As detailed in court documents reviewed by Complex, Dixon accuses Fat Joe of a pattern of threatening and abusive behavior meant to maintain power and control in the industry. Among those claims is a chilling allegation that around 2006 or 2007, Joe “engaged in a calculated and premeditated conspiracy to murder” Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson.
The lawsuit states that Joe, who was living in Miami at the time, received word that 50 Cent was at a New York venue and allegedly ordered a hit. However, the plot was reportedly abandoned when Joe’s alleged associates noticed 50 was heavily protected by “Navy Seal type” security and were too afraid to move forward. Dixon says Joe expressed regret over the failed plan and allegedly admitted, “I’ve been trying to get this n***a for a minute.”
The filing claims this plot wasn’t a one-off, but part of a broader pattern of retaliatory violence used by what Dixon refers to as an “Enterprise” built on intimidation, humiliation, and control.
The same lawsuit accuses Fat Joe of coercive labor practices, sexual abuse, financial fraud, and having inappropriate relationships with underage girls — disturbing claims that Joe has vehemently denied.
In response, Joe’s attorney, Joe Tacopina, issued a statement calling the lawsuit “a blatant act of retaliation” and “complete fabrications.” He described the claims as a desperate attempt to apply public pressure and force a settlement. Tacopina emphasized that Joe is fighting back, having already filed a defamation suit against Dixon and his lawyer Tyrone Blackburn back in April — including accusations of spreading lies about Joe being a pedophile.
“Mr. Cartagena will not be intimidated,” Tacopina said. “We have taken legal action to expose this fraudulent campaign and hold everyone involved accountable.”
