Cardi B Sparks Buzz with New Track “Outside,” Appears to Shade Offset and Tease Stefon Diggs Romance

Cardi B is making her summer comeback loud and clear with the release of her new single “Outside,” which dropped on Friday (June 20). On the fiery track, the Bronx rapper announces she’s officially stepping back into the spotlight—and doesn’t shy away from throwing some shade at her soon-to-be ex-husband, Offset.

“Good-for-nothing, low-down dirty dogs, I’m convinced / Next time you see your mama, tell her how she raised a bitch,” Cardi spits on “Outside,” later throwing in, “I been cuffed up too long, let me remind n***as.”

The fiery bars seem to echo themes from her Invasion of Privacy track “Thru the Phone,” where she also dives into betrayal and broken trust. “I just want to break up all your shit / Call your mama phone, let her know that she raised a bitch,” she rapped on that track — making the latest verse feel like a full-circle moment.

To set the stage: when Cardi B dropped her debut album Invasion of Privacy in April 2018, she and Offset were still basking in newlywed status, having secretly tied the knot in September 2017. But just a few months later, by December, cheating rumors started swirling around the Migos rapper — drama that continued to shadow Cardi even as she promoted her breakout project.

Fast-forward to now, and Cardi’s clearly moved on. Her latest single, “Outside,” doesn’t just throw shade at Offset—it also hints at a fresh romance with NFL star Stefon Diggs.

“Favorite player from your favorite team, he in my DM, uh / I’m so small and tiny, he so big and tall / Might let him dunk this pussy like he dunk the ball,” she raps, before getting more specific: “Heard them Patriots got them n***as, let me in the locker room.” Diggs recently joined the New England Patriots, adding fuel to the speculation.

Cardi also drops name-checks to LeBron and Savannah James, as well as WNBA star A’ja Wilson, flexing a blend of personal power and pop culture dominance.

With her divorce from Offset filed last summer, the rapper seems to be turning the page in a major way—both in her love life and her music. This week, she also shared the first photos of her youngest daughter, Blossom.

“Outside” marks Cardi’s first solo drop of 2025, following recent appearances on The Smurfs Movie soundtrack and Pardison Fontaine’s “Toot It Up.”
