Time might heal, but Will Smith clearly hasn’t left that Oscars moment behind just yet.
In a fresh “Fire in the Booth” freestyle with Charlie Sloth shared on Thursday, Smith seems to hint at the 2022 incident where he slapped Chris Rock during the Academy Awards after a joke aimed at his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith.
“If you talking crazy out your face up on the stage and disrespect me on the stage, expect me on the stage,” the Philly native raps—without dropping any names.
“Jokers dish it out, cry foul when it’s time to take it,” Smith raps. “City full of real ones, wasn’t raised to fake it.” So far, Chris Rock hasn’t made any public comments about the freestyle.
This isn’t the first time Will has seemingly addressed the Oscars controversy. He touched on it in his recent album Based on a True Story, especially on the opening track, “Int. Barbershop – Day,” which features DJ Jazzy Jeff and B. Simone.
Back in April, Chris Rock’s brother, Tony Rock, didn’t hold back when asked about the album. Despite not listening to it, he labeled it “a piece of shit” and brought up the Oscars incident, adding, “It’s a great time to be a comic.”
