After premiering his new film Neverland at the Tribeca Film Festival, Kid Cudi opened up about the fate of his Emmy-winning animated Netflix special Entergalactic. Despite its critical acclaim and a star-studded voice cast including Jessica Williams and Timothée Chalamet, the project never got a second season—and now we know why.
Responding to a fan on X, Cudi revealed, “I asked them multiple times about doing another season and they told me no becuz they say it didn’t stream the way they expected. Critically acclaimed, and a Emmy win, and still no interest. Very sad and it breaks my heart.”
He admitted he had hoped the show’s audience would grow over time, but Netflix wasn’t on board. Still, Cudi’s not letting that slow him down. He assured fans he’s already working on a new animated project and added, “nothing can stop me from being great.”

In a follow-up post on X, Kid Cudi stood proud of Entergalactic’s legacy, saying that even though the story didn’t get to continue the way he envisioned, the project still “changed the game” and made a powerful “impact.”

You can still stream Kid Cudi’s Entergalactic on Netflix, where it originally debuted in 2022. The animated special was directed by Fletcher Moules and based on a story by Cudi himself. That same year, he also dropped an album titled Entergalactic, which complements the project perfectly.
Up next for Kid Cudi? He’s gearing up to drop his memoir Cudi: The Memoir this August via Simon & Schuster. Described as “a story of survival,” the book promises an intimate look into his journey. And that’s not all—Cudi has his sights set on making his feature-length directorial debut in 2026. Big moves on the horizon.
