Young Thug Speaks Out to Rich Homie Quan’s Family Following His Brother’s Diss

Young Thug recently honored Rich Homie Quan, but the tribute didn’t sit well with members of the late rapper’s circle, largely due to their unresolved history.

Back in the 2010s, Young Thug and Rich Homie Quan were seen as one of hip-hop’s hottest duos. Unfortunately, their bond eventually fell apart, and they never got the chance to fix things. Quan passed away while Thug was behind bars during the YSL RICO trial. Now, their past is being revisited after Thugger shared a tribute post that stirred mixed reactions across the hip-hop community.

For context, the YSL rapper posted a throwback video of himself and his Rich Gang collaborator, insisting he never switched up on Quan. However, close associate Rich Homie Monta and Quan’s brother, Rich Homie Dre, appeared to take issue with the post, prompting Young Thug to respond online. On Friday, May 8, he continued addressing the situation through a series of Instagram Story posts, this time directing his words toward Quan’s parents.

“@richhomiedre tell them he was about to take the stand on me the week he died sense its a lie,” Young Thug wrote about Rich Homie Quan, as shared by DJ Akademiks on Instagram. “I still luv em and wish he was here tho, I know I wouldn’t have walked pass him sleeping on the floor.”

“I don’t need a recepit sissy tt’s in blk&white,” he added. “R.I.P quan condolences to Mom. Dad knows I love him like my own, and I have always been respectful and i was there for him when he went through what he went through. All this because I made a post reminiscing about a person I spent a lot of my career with as a friend and brother. We all make mistakes but I’m not the reason he died, yall are. I always told him to stop drinking and stop popping pills. Yall made sure he had them when he woke up. Sorry pops for this goofy s**t but these n**as coming at me cause I posted your son in great regards.”

Just days before his passing, Rich Homie Quan had also spoken on Young Thug. “We do have a lot of music that hasn’t been released. But who knows what the future holds? […] I’m willing to have a conversation, and it’ll start from there,” he said.
