SZA Joins Voice Cast for CoComelon: The Movie as Universal Reveals Star Lineup

SZA is making her animated movie debut after joining the star-packed voice cast for CoComelon: The Movie.

According to Variety, the Grammy-winning singer will appear alongside Nicholas Hoult and Sarah Sherman, who are among the latest additions to the film. SZA, who recently starred with Keke Palmer in the 2025 comedy One of These Days, is set to voice a brand-new character in the movie.

Other new cast members include Ike Barinholtz, Ego Nwodim, Josh Johnson, Matt Friend, Rhys Darby, and Cristo Fernández. Familiar voices from the TV series will also return, with Connor Esterson reprising JJ, Camden Brooks voicing Cody, Olivia London Leyva returning as Nina, and Aerina DeBoer back as CeCe.

Behind the scenes, the movie is being directed by Kat Good, who previously worked as a story artist on Kung Fu Panda. Justin Tranter, known for writing hits for artists like Chappell Roan, Justin Bieber, and Selena Gomez, is serving as the project’s executive music producer.

According to the official press release, the film is being described as “an epic adventure” that will take families “beyond the world of CoComelon that they know,” following JJ, his friends, and a brand-new lineup of characters on a cinematic journey packed with original songs and deeper storytelling.

The movie is being produced by Moonbug Entertainment, Flywheel Media, Prime Focus Studios, and DreamWorks Animation, while animation duties are being handled by the DNEG Group. Universal Pictures is set to release the film in theaters on February 19, 2027.

The announcement also arrives as the CoComelon franchise undergoes a major shift. After first launching on YouTube in 2006 and later becoming a global success on Netflix, the series is expected to move to Disney+ in 2027 after Netflix reportedly chose not to renew its licensing agreement.
