Halle Berry is gearing up to celebrate her 60th birthday — and she couldn’t be more excited about reaching the milestone.
During a recent chat with Today hosts Jenna Bush Hager and Sheinelle Jones, the Oscar-winning actress reflected on what turning 60 means to her.
“I feel different than I thought I would feel at 60,” she said. “What is 60? What is age anymore? It’s a feeling. I feel stronger, smarter, wiser, more myself, more in control. I am the best version of myself at this time in my life, and I am so glad that I’m still here and healthy.”
“I still get to work in movies and film and do the things that I love, tell stories that matter to me,” she explained. “Still raise my children, my family. I’m still alive in it. I haven’t gone off into the sunset. I haven’t fallen off. I’m still here doing it on my own terms.”
Halle Berry first gained major attention with her roles in Jungle Fever and Boomerang. She later made history in 2001 when she became the first—and remains the only—Black woman to win the Academy Award for Best Actress for her performance in Monster’s Ball.
Over the years, Berry has continued to maintain a strong presence in Hollywood. Most recently, she starred in the crime thriller Crime 101 alongside Chris Hemsworth and Mark Ruffalo. She is also preparing for two upcoming projects, the drama Fleur and the action thriller Red Card, both of which are currently in production.
Born Maria Halle Berry in Cleveland, the actress will celebrate her 60th birthday on August 14.
