Sabrina Carpenter has obtained a temporary restraining order against a man accused of repeatedly showing up at her Los Angeles residence.
According to court documents obtained by KABC, the singer became aware of the alleged trespasser, identified as 31-year-old William Applegate, after he reportedly breached the security fencing surrounding her property and attempted to open her front door on May 23 before being stopped by her security team.
The Los Angeles Police Department was called to the scene, and Applegate was subsequently arrested on suspicion of criminal trespassing.
However, less than a day later, Applegate allegedly returned to the property and remained in Carpenter’s driveway for nearly two hours. He reportedly showed up again on May 25.
The court filing claims Carpenter’s security team later discovered that the alleged stalking behavior had actually begun on April 20.
In the documents, Carpenter described Applegate as “delusional,” while a police detective involved in the investigation reportedly backed that assessment, referring to him as “mentally unstable.” The singer expressed concerns about what he might do, and the detective concluded that Applegate represents a clear, credible, and continuing threat.
The case mirrors a similar situation involving Billie Eilish, whose home was repeatedly targeted by then-24-year-old Prenell Rousseau. After Rousseau allegedly appeared at her residence seven times and once attempted to enter through the front door, a judge granted Eilish a three-year restraining order and ordered him to stay at least 200 yards away from her and her family.
Applegate is expected to appear in court on June 18.
