Back in March, a woman allegedly fired multiple rounds from an AR-15 near A$AP Rocky and Rihanna’s Los Angeles residence.
Over the past year, A$AP Rocky has had plenty of reasons to celebrate. The Harlem rapper was acquitted in a widely followed felony assault case, continued growing his business portfolio, and remained in the spotlight alongside Rihanna in one of entertainment’s most talked-about relationships. However, despite the success, Rocky recently shared that a terrifying incident involving his family has continued to affect him.
During an interview with VIBE, Rocky opened up about a threat directed at him and his loved ones after a woman allegedly opened fire at the home he shares with Rihanna in March. Reports indicated that the couple and their children were inside the residence at the time of the incident. Although neither Rocky nor Rihanna has publicly discussed the situation in great detail, the rapper offered some insight into the emotional impact the ordeal had on him during his conversation with the outlet.
The conversation also touched on A$AP Rocky’s deep-rooted connection to New York City, which he described as a place that gives him a sense of freedom and energy. As he reflected on the ability to move around freely without fear, he contrasted that feeling with the emotional toll caused by the shooting incident.
“It was fucked up,” Rocky said. “Somebody attempted at [harming] me and my family… It took away a lot of peace and happiness of being able to just be free. I don’t want to be robbed of my peace and joy.”
Rocky’s remarks come several months after authorities accused Ivanna Lisette Ortiz of allegedly firing multiple shots from an AR-15 near the rapper’s Los Angeles home. Thankfully, no one was injured during the incident.
Ortiz has pleaded not guilty to multiple felony charges, including attempted murder, and is currently awaiting trial.
