Pharrell believes the new music video for Voices of Fire’s “THE ONE” carries such a powerful presence that it can be felt even without the sound.
The Pharrell-assisted track opens OPHANIM, the latest album from the Virginia-based gospel choir Voices of Fire. The project also features appearances from John Legend, Quavo, and several other artists. In the newly released video, which premiered on Monday (June 8), Pharrell makes a memorable entrance by skating into the performance before stepping up to deliver his verse.
“This masterful video of our new release ‘THE ONE’ is a heavenly view of a multi-generational, rhythmic, melodic declaration, that Jesus doesn’t compare to any other,” Voices of Fire founder Bishop Ezekiel Williams said in a statement shared with Complex. “He is the One! Feel the energy, as the Spirit and Voices of Fire set hearts ablaze.”
Pharrell echoed those sentiments, emphasizing the song’s message of unity and human connection.
“You could watch this on mute and it would still be loud,” he said in a statement to Complex. “That’s what happens when the energy is real. Faith looks different for everybody, but connection is something we all recognize.”
The video for “THE ONE” is available now, while OPHANIM can be streamed across major platforms, including Apple Music, Spotify, and Tidal. In addition to appearing on the album, Pharrell also served as an executive producer and co-writer on the project.
The 14-time Grammy Award winner previously teamed up with Voices of Fire on the 2023 single “JOY (Unspeakable),” further strengthening his creative connection with the gospel collective.
Voices of Fire also expanded their reach beyond gospel music last year by appearing on Clipse’s critically acclaimed album Let God Sort Em Out, a project that was produced by Pharrell and earned widespread praise from both fans and critics. Their involvement highlighted the group’s versatility and Pharrell’s continued commitment to showcasing their talents across different musical spaces.
