T.I.’s sons, Domani and King Harris, are both carving out their own paths in music, but Domani admitted he nearly chose a completely different career.
Speaking during an interview with Real 92.3 LA, the brothers were asked what other professions they considered before deciding to pursue rap.
“There was three things I wanted to do as a kid,” King said. “It was either football, boxing, or singing. It was always those for me.”
Domani, however, had a much more unexpected answer.
“Man, I was all over the place, I ain’t going to lie,” he said. “I was drawing… Magician, that’s the wildest thing. … David Blaine, Criss Angel, all them magicians.”
When asked whether he actually studied magic, Domani revealed that he did.
“As a kid, yeah,” he said. “Whatever I did, it don’t matter how crazy it sounded, I dove [in] 100 percent.”
He also recalled learning a levitation trick during his childhood obsession with magic. After performing it for his father, T.I., the rapper’s only response was, “How you do that?” When asked if he’d mastered levitation over the years, Domani laughed and replied, “I don’t search for perfection, man.”
These days, Domani is focused on music and is currently touring in support of his latest project, Hot Seat. Released in March, the album includes a collaboration with King Harris on the closing track, “One of You.”
