Meagan Good Says Divorce From DeVon Franklin Was the ‘Biggest Blessing’

Meagan Good is looking back on her 2022 divorce from DeVon Franklin with gratitude and a positive outlook.

During the Monday (July 13) episode of The Innermission Podcast, hosted by actress Danielle Brooks, Good reflected on the end of her nearly 10-year marriage to the motivational speaker and producer. The pair tied the knot in 2012 and later co-authored the 2017 devotional book The Wait, which centered on their decision to remain celibate before marriage. In 2025, Good married actor Jonathan Majors, while Franklin went on to marry fitness influencer Maria Castillo.

Around the 37-minute mark of the episode, Good described her divorce from Franklin as “the biggest blessing for both of us,” adding that it ultimately benefited not only the two of them, but also Franklin’s second wife and her own husband, Jonathan Majors.

“At the time I was so mad at God and I was so confused. And I was like, ‘Well, Lord, you told me to marry this person and you knew that my worst fear was to get a divorce [after] 10 years just like my mom and dad did,’” Good recalled.

“And then when it did ultimately happen, I was just like, ‘Lord, I just don’t trust you anymore.’ I was like, ‘You bamboozled me,’” she continued. “I felt lied to. And it took me a full year of constant therapy and crying to work through it.”

Good shared that she chose not to drink during her healing journey and eventually realized the marriage had served its purpose in her life.

“Everything that I needed to get from that, I got from that. Everything I needed to give to that, I gave to that,” she said. “And we’re both better because of it. I think I know I’m a better wife because of that experience.”

Good and Franklin tied the knot less than a year after meeting on the set of the 2011 film Jumping the Broom. Franklin filed for divorce in December 2021, citing irreconcilable differences. In a joint Instagram statement announcing their split, the former couple described the divorce as “the next best chapter in the evolution of our love.”

Over the years, both have continued to speak positively about their past relationship. During a February appearance on Today with Jenna & Sheinelle, Franklin said he has “nothing but love” for Good.

“You are with someone for a period of time,” he said. “During that period of time, you are exactly getting what you need, and then you move on to whatever may be next.”
