Nicki Minaj is facing legal action from some of her former attorneys. According to TMZ, the rapper has been sued by the law firm Gordon Rees Scully Mansukhani LLP over allegations that she failed to pay more than $300,000 in outstanding legal fees.
The firm claims it agreed to represent Minaj in 2024 in connection with a copyright infringement lawsuit and alleges she still owes $229,541 for the legal services provided. According to the filing, Minaj did not respond to the lawsuit, prompting the firm to seek a default judgment. A court hearing has been scheduled for September to determine whether that judgment will be granted, potentially allowing the firm to prevail without having to fully argue its case.
Nicki Minaj has not publicly responded to the lawsuit. The latest legal dispute comes after she was hit with another lawsuit earlier this year, when a production crew alleged that she failed to pay a six-figure bill.
These legal battles are unfolding as Nicki Minaj continues to draw attention for her recent political shift. The rapper faced criticism after attending Trump’s Rose Garden Club Lunch, a move that sparked widespread discussion online. She also received support from several pro-Trump accounts, adding to the backlash.
Still, the reaction may not come as a surprise given Minaj’s increasingly visible ties to the Trump administration and figures such as Erika Kirk in recent months. It remains to be seen whether her association with the current Republican Party will influence the rollout or public reception of her next album.
