Houston’s independent rap community is mourning the tragic death of Judy World. The 28-year-old rapper was reportedly stabbed to death over the weekend, leaving behind her 10-year-old daughter and an outpouring of grief from fans, friends, and loved ones.
Known professionally as Judy World and Play Girl Judy, Krystal Jordan made a name for herself in Houston’s thriving independent Hip Hop scene, where local artists continue to influence one of rap’s most iconic cities. After news of her passing broke, supporters flooded her Instagram page with heartfelt tributes and condolences. Meanwhile, a GoFundMe launched by her sister quickly raised thousands of dollars to help the family with funeral costs.
In a message posted on the fundraiser, Jordan’s sister, Keiara Walker, said their family’s world has been “shattered” by the heartbreaking loss. She also spoke about the devastating impact the tragedy has had on Jordan’s young daughter. As loved ones continue to mourn, authorities have since filed criminal charges in connection with Jordan’s death.
According to Harris County court records cited by the Houston Chronicle, 28-year-old Kayla Wynita Rodgers has been charged with manslaughter in connection with the fatal stabbing. The charge is linked to an incident that occurred on July 11 at a home located in the 11900 block of Bat Sheva Lane.
Police said officers responded to reports of a stabbing at the residence, where they found a bystander performing first aid on Krystal Jordan. She was transported to a nearby hospital by the Houston Fire Department but was later pronounced dead. Rodgers was taken into custody at the scene without incident and booked into the Harris County Jail. Court records show her bond has been set at $100,000. As of this writing, no attorney has been listed for Rodgers in court records.
Authorities have not disclosed what led to the deadly stabbing, and the investigation remains ongoing.
